Thoughts and prayers needed

  • Jun. 15th, 2008 at 2:00 PM
Without going into it too terribly much, can anyone who believes in the power of positive thinking send some good get-well vibes to my Dad?
He's been fighting a wound that won't heal in his foot for quite some time .... but there's a lot fighting back.  He's got diabetes which brings its own foot neuropathy issues... he had frostbite when he was in Korea.... and he's got poor circulation due to arterial blockages in his leg veins. (working on those as well).  Well, happy Fathers' Day to me, I just got the news that there is now bone infection in his foot, and they're that much closer to amputating.  But... in completely unrelated news, he has now found blood in his urine, and is up for a CAT scan on Monday.
Just got off the phone with him, he's understandably depressed.  However, he's now talking in a way that's scaring the bejeebers out of me, and I've never felt so helpless.
Thanks...

Not much update to happen yet, there's still a lot of testing and consulting going on. All we can say is that it's looking more and more likely that they're going to have to amputate. They're mostly worried about spending ages fighting it and having to take the foot anyways, it may be best to just throw in the towel now rather than after another couple months of pain. He's still very understandably depressed.

Oh no, I'm so sorry about your Dad. We went through something very similar with my grandpa recently. He's in my thoughts.
